The organising committee would like to kindly invite you to the Colloquium on Liberation History, Memory and Contestation to be co-hosted by the NIHSS, Universities of Venda, Limpopo and South Africa at the University of Venda. National issues such as human rights, higher education, poverty and landlessness demand of us to create forums and platforms to engage, share knowledge and enhance our understanding of historical factors and events that shaped the history of South Africa over time. This multi-disciplinary colloquium will bring together academics, business people, civil society and postgraduate students to share their research work and expertise with the intention of contributing to national dialogue on complicated national issues. Submissions may either be in full papers to be presented in fifteen minutes or posters whose authors should be available for consultations. The colloquium’s proceedings will focus on the following, but not limited to, sub-themes:
- Theorising Revolutions, Freedoms and History
- Biographies: Echoes of the Past
- Women and the Liberation struggles
- Youth and Resistance in post-colonial states
- International Solidarity in Liberation Struggles.
Besides the indicated sub-themes, authors and presenters may also conduct panel discussions and workshops on the topics/ sub-themes of their choice. Such authors and presenters are requested to make prior arrangements with the organising committee to have their sessions included in the final programme.
