The Mzala Nxumalo Centre for the Study of South African society hosted a conference on the Future of the Left in Durban from the 8th to the 10th of June 2017. The main purpose of the conference was to consider the state of the political Left and to discuss ways of strengthening it. While the conference examined the global context, focus was on South Africa. The conference interrogated this question in the context of imperialism and ‘fluid’ capital that morphs and reshapes and results in an unequal world.
