The Liliesleaf Memory and History Mobile Exhibition landed at Sol Plaatje University (SPU) on 08 August 2017 in Kimberley, Northern Cape. The exhibition focuses on South Africa in the period 1952 to 1966, with particular emphasis on the police raid on Liliesleaf and the subsequent Rivonia Trial. It also uses the Freedom Charter as a vehicle to spark conversations about freedom, democracy and social justice.
Dr Garth Benneyworth, SPU Heritage HOD gave a lecture on "Reflections on Rivonia: building the Liliesleaf Museum."
“NIHSS is proud to partner with Sol Plaatje in this venture, which challenges idea of space, place and history. This mobile exhibition brings the history of Liliesleaf to life,” said Prof Sarah Mosoetsa, CEO of the NIHSS.
The Liliesleaf Memory and History Mobile Exhibition was first launched in 2016 at Unisa.
