Over the years, the National Institute for the Humanities and Social Sciences (NIHSS) has proudly celebrated and supported the academic journeys of more than 600 doctoral graduates across the Humanities and Social Sciences. These achievements stand as a testament to the transformative impact of sustained investment in scholarship, research, and the development of future African scholars and thought leaders.

As we celebrate our 2025/26 financial year achievements, we honour a new cohort of NIHSS-funded doctoral graduates whose work continues to contribute towards knowledge production, critical inquiry, societal development, and the advancement of the Humanities and Social Sciences in South Africa and beyond.
