1.What does the celebration of Women’s Month mean to you?
This year I celebrate Women in all their glory, as we not only embody ‘Imbokotho’ but also decolonial love, a radical love that moves us past the grips of colonial and apartheid traumas to a space of self-love and healing. It is through decolonial love that I embrace my contested identity in South Africa and appreciate the intricate Blackness I embody. I pay tribute to the sacrifices of the past that have paved the way for us, the Black women and Black mothers of today. I honour the memory of the Women’s March for Freedom by heeding the call to continue because there is still much to do.
