Ms Ntombela is an accomplished public sector leader, governance specialist, and education and health professional with an extensive career spanning more than three decades. Her work reflects a deep commitment to human development, regulatory excellence, and strengthening institutional capacity across South Africa and the broader African region.
She has held influential leadership roles, including serving on the Board of the African Population Health and Research Centre (APHRC) and on its Human Resource Committee, as well as previous appointments as Vice-Chairperson of Council at the Durban University of Technology and Chairperson of its Human Capital Committee. A former Councillor at the Independent Communications Authority of South Africa (ICASA), she has contributed significantly to ICT policy, consumer protection, and international regulatory engagements through bodies such as the Universal Postal Union and the Pan African Postal Union.
Her career in the public sector includes senior positions within the Department of Communications, the Gauteng Department of Health, and the National Department of Health, where she led policy development, strategic planning, and oversight functions. As Head of Secretariat for the Human Resource Development Council of South Africa (HRDC), she provided strategic leadership in implementing the national HRD Strategy towards 2030.
Ms Ntombela’s expertise spans health systems, ICT regulation, human resource development, multilateral engagement, and corporate governance. She is also the CEO of BTN Training (Pty) Ltd, specialising in Early Childhood Development.
Known for her strong interpersonal skills, strategic insight, and commitment to public service, she brings a wealth of multi-sectoral experience to every platform she serves.
