Prof Koma

Prof Koma is an accomplished scholar and governance specialist currently serving as Director of the School of Economics and Management at the University of Limpopo, where he provides academic leadership in research, teaching, and institutional development. With over two decades of experience across leading South African universities, including the University of Pretoria, Milpark Education, and North-West University, Professor Koma has distinguished himself as a thought leader in public administration, local governance, and developmental policy.

His research and policy contributions span critical areas such as municipal governance, local economic development, and public sector ethics, with numerous publications in Scopus- and DHET-indexed journals. A National Research Foundation (NRF) and NIHSS grant recipient, he currently leads a BRICS Think Tank cluster on promoting intra-BRICS cooperation for inclusive economic growth.

Beyond academia, Professor Koma has advised government departments, legislatures, and municipalities on governance reform, intergovernmental relations, and consequence management. His service extends to roles as an editorial board member, conference chair, and reviewer for multiple international journals.

Professor Koma embodies the principles of ethical leadership, scholarship, and public service excellence, qualities that continue to shape South Africa’s developmental governance agenda and the strengthening of humanities and social sciences scholarship across the continent.
